Welcome to A Home for Hooves

Transforming the lives of abandoned, neglected, and abused farm animals.

We are Canada's first accredited farm sanctuary. At a Home for Hooves we provide farmed animals with a forever home that emulates a natural and enriching environment. We strive to educate the public through sharing knowledge and stories about the lives of farmed animals that inspire a compassionate lifestyle.

Finding Sanctuary

We are a volunteer run, registered Charity organization in Duncan BC, that offers a forever home for rescued, abandoned, and surrendered farmed animals. The Sanctuary was founded in September 2017 and we are the first farm sanctuary in Canada to be Accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. We currently care for over 170 residents at A Home for Hooves including pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, mini donkeys, bovines, mini horses, peafowl, partridges, dogs, cats, and guinea pigs.

Sponsor an Animal Today

Many of the animals at A Home for Hooves come from situations of neglect, abuse, and cruelty or they are surrendered due to diverse need requirements. As a sponsor, your monthly donation helps us provide a high standard of care for all the animals at the sanctuary. Monthly giving is simply the best way to make a difference in the lives of the animals at A Home for Hooves.

You should know!

Micro Pig Myth

Did you know that there is no such breed as a “Micro” or “Tea Cup” pig?  This is a very unfortunate myth that has been perpetuated by breeders to make a quick buck.  Pot Belly Pigs are considered “Micro”, but remember, in the pig world, farm pigs average 1000 pounds!

All hands on deck!

Volunteer!

Volunteers are essential to ensuring our organisation runs smoothly and our residents receive top notch care.  We are always looking for reliable individuals who would like to donate their time at the sanctuary or remotely.

Support Sanctuary

All donations made to A Home for Hooves go directly to the care of all the residents. By making a donation you ensure their bellies are full, they have a warm and safe place to sleep, and that they receive timely medical care. Make a difference in an animal’s life today.
